Things have been a little slow around here lately i’m afraid, but hey, it’s all been in a good cause. I’m working pretty solidly on more technical coding projects and other time consuming activities (like degrees). In the intervening month i’ve had my head buried in code; html, javascript, php, css, ruby, perl, flash, java - you name it.
But fear not bretherin, forgotten about you i have not. Above is a little update on the firefly project which is going slowly, but it’s a cool sideline and i’m having fun with it. Hopefully over the summer i’ll actually have some free time to finish it. But where are the freakin tutorials i hear you cry. Well, i’ve got a couple of ideas for when i get some time, but i’d really like to hear from you guys with what you’re interested in seeing. Any particular tutorial you really like and want to see more of? Or want me to expand on some of my 3D stuff? Or perhaps something totally different with web development. Anyway, let me know. Meanwhile, i have a couple of big projects that i plan on really getting moving in the next few months that should have a big impact for you.
In other misc filler news, i’d like to point out that the myspace page is still available and rhys-works actually has a youtube page you can check out . Incidently, in the interests of user input, are there any other features you’d be interested in seeing on the site, like a forum perhaps.
And for the sudden influx of visitors we’re magically having today, hi. I don’t know where you’re coming from, but wherever it is, i salute you.

Hey!
Good to hear from you again
An AMAZING tutorial would be on how to create the firefly model you are working on (which btw looks awesome). Either as a free tutorial (or series), or even a Training DVD, it would be great to be able to do it!
Other than that, definitley some 3D tutorials and also more ‘footage-based’ ones. I hope your doing well with your degree!

Thanks for the Update:)
I think it would be sweet to see a tutorial on how to make realistic 3D looking glass like the one in the link below.

Your rain tutorial was AWESOME by the way!!!

I think that it would be nice to see a tutorial about how to create smoke sparks etc.. with particular and then to shop us how to composite it onto life action footage some advanced tips & tricks about compositing maybe.. etc
Also i think it’s good idea to show us some nice things to do in 3D max maybe like cool 3D logos graphics etc.. maybe particle flow some fire or rain water.. whatever you want
CHEERS STEFAN!

javascript, php, css, ruby, perl, flash, java…. are you still alive?? damn…anyways great to hear from you,
I think Mat Paintings are cool,, to show something like creating them, laying in AE and the magic of making it look realistic (+atmospheric fog, rain, smoke and CHAOS!) ,, now that i guess is a topic little discussed about in the web, I can picture a way of doing it but it will be great to hear it from you as well…
*hey importing 3d stuff(3d models) into AE ???is it possible? (i heard of a plug in MAX2AE)

Great to hear from you again mate, loving Serenity, looks fantastic.
A tutorial I would love to see is one on old style musket style guns firing. Muzzle flashes are pretty easy beacuse they’re so quick so you don’t notice them too much, but I love to be able to create a realistic looking smoke spray for a musket style gun. The ones where smoke shoots a metre from the barrel and hangs in the air for a while.

That’s a cool idea. I’ve been planning on doing guns for a while but it’s just a matter of getting the footage at the moment. Hopefully in the near future.

I’ve always been a fan of Harry Potter, and to be able to do some kind of Priori Incantatem effect would be awesome!
Hope all is well!
