Over at theforce.net this year we’re running a new kind of competition, those of you who are familiar with the fanfilms forum will probably know about the the Lightsaber Choreography Competition that spawned work such as RvD and RvB, but i’ve got something a little different for you to take a look at, namely, the Harry Potter Wand Duel Competition.


The point of this is to stretch your imagination and skill to coming up with a complete piece, with visual effects, choreography, music, camera work, the full nine yards. There are three official judges, who independently selected the categories and criteria they will be judging on to get the full scope of the entries and to make sure everything is as fair as possible, but the general idea being that it’s down to more than just your choreography. And i’m one of the judges. You can read all about it, including the rules and ideas and entries here.


So check it out, you’ve got till Christmas to get your entries together, full explanation of the whole competition is in the above link. Having said all that, it should be a really fun competition and there are some good looking prospective entries coming along that we’re all looking forward to seeing.
