wow, I’m impressed with the showreel. I especially like how you created the fog, rain, and lighting in the first shot when he looks out the window. It would be cool if there was a quick tutorial on how you created the fog and lighting. Was the fog created with Fractal Noise or with Trapcode Particular?
Thank you very much for the kind words about my show reel. The fog in the matte painting wasn’t actually animated - it was just painted in Photoshop. The lightning was the Advanced Lightning effect, painted and masked to make it look like it flashes downwards, and then the illumination was added by duplicating the whole matte painting, setting it’s transfer mode to “Add” then separately masking it.
The fractal noise rain was simple too - “Add” transfer mode, the offset option keyframed to move the whole pattern downwards - set a low transparency, and it looks like distant heavy rain.
Hey Dude i was wondering if you could release a tutorial on how you did the end lighting scene or whatever. Or maybe even save it as a preset and let us download it or something Thanks.

neat, I didn’t know you could create rain with fractal noise - how did you do that?

Great video, Mike. What kind of computer are you working with? Thanks, Jordan.

Jordan,
I use a self-built PC. It’s a couple of years old but does the job. If you’d like the specs I will post them on request
